Wind Check: What Has Been Entrusted to Me?

Issue 17 Companion Reflection
Clarity in the Wind: When the Assignment Looks Too Small to Matter

“For who has despised the day of small things?”
Zechariah 4:10, NKJV

Some things receive our attention easily because they feel important. They are visible, urgent, exciting, or connected to an outcome we want. Other responsibilities are easier to overlook because they seem ordinary, repetitive, or too small to matter.

This week’s Clarity in the Wind challenges us to reconsider how we measure significance. Something does not have to become large, visible, or impressive to have been important to God.

But that does not mean everything demanding our attention deserves more of it.

What Is Actually Yours to Steward?

That is the question at the center of this week’s Wind Check.

Before giving more energy to something you have neglected, it is worth asking whether it has actually been entrusted to you. Some responsibilities need renewed faithfulness. Others may be things we are carrying because of guilt, pressure, fear, or expectations that were never ours to fulfill.

This guided reflection will help you take inventory of what is currently in your hands, identify something you may have been treating as insignificant, and discern whether it is genuinely yours to steward.

From there, you will consider a practical next step and separate what belongs to you from what belongs to God.

Take a Few Quiet Minutes

You do not need to work through every responsibility in your life. Bring one specific assignment, relationship, commitment, idea, or unfinished piece of work before the Lord.

As you complete the Wind Check, resist the temptation to ask only, “Could this become something bigger?” Instead, ask:

“Has this been entrusted to me?”

If it has, what would faithful stewardship look like now?

Before You Finish

Remember that faithfulness does not give us control over outcomes. Our responsibility is preparation, obedience, consistency, and stewardship. The results, recognition, responses of others, and what something eventually becomes belong to God.

Something does not have to become big to have been important to God.
