Before You Call It God, Test It

Prophetic Reflection

There are moments when we sense something strongly and want to name it immediately.

God said this.
God showed me this.
God told me this.

But spiritual maturity teaches us not to rush the language of God.

Not every strong feeling is discernment.
Not every burden is a warning.
Not every dream is instruction.
Not every open door is approval.
Not every delay is opposition.

Sometimes what we are sensing is God.

Sometimes it is fear.

Sometimes it is desire.
Sometimes it is the residue of past pain.

Sometimes it is the noise around us trying to sound spiritual.

That is why Scripture tells us to test.

Testing does not dishonor God.

Testing protects what God said.

A mature believer does not have to be afraid of examination. If something is truly from the Lord, it can survive prayer, Scripture, wise counsel, patience, and peace.

The danger is not discernment.

The danger is calling something God too quickly because it feels urgent, emotional, familiar, or impressive.

In this hour, we need believers who can hear clearly and test wisely.

Because clarity is not just about receiving revelation.

Clarity is also about rightly handling what we believe we have received.

Scripture in Focus

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God.”

1 John 4:1

Testing is not doubt. Testing is obedience.

The Bible does not tell us to believe everything that sounds spiritual. It tells us to test it. That means discernment requires patience, humility, and submission to God’s Word.

Before you act, pause.

Before you speak, pray.

Before you label it as God, test it.

God is not threatened by your obedience to Scripture.

Wind Check

What have you sensed recently that may need to be tested before it is acted on?

Prayer

Lord, teach me to discern with wisdom and humility. Help me not to rush what You are still clarifying. Deliver me from fear, assumption, and spiritual impatience. Anchor me in Your Word, surround me with wise counsel, and give me peace that comes from You. Amen.

Declaration

I will not be led by urgency, fear, emotion, or assumption. I will test what I sense, submit it to God, and walk in wisdom.
